Where my astral projection journey began
This is the real story of my initial steps into the realm of astral projection.
When I was in primary school, my natural science book had a paragraph that read something like this:
Human life is made of the following stages:
1. We are born
2. We grow up
3. We reproduce
4. We age
5. We die
There was a drawing that illustrated these stages. And at that young age I realized the way school or society illustrated life was depressing and meaningless. Worst yet, I had to memorize these stages of life over and over because I knew this question was going to show up in the exam, and the more I memorized it; the more boring and meaningless life seemed.
This created an impact on me. I could not settle with so little—I didn't want to be like the rest of people; there had to be more to life than that. I realize now why most people are unhappy with their lives, the education system is designed to create human tools that don't even question what is written in these books; they simply do what they are told: to be born, to grow up, to reproduce, to age, and to die. So sad how this is the destiny of most people, who are not realizing that this is part of a system that was never meant to make life happy or meaningful, but to keep the system’s gears moving. A mechanical life turning people into machines.
I spent my childhood in a catholic school. The teachers and priest would always talk about God, heaven, and hell —well, they mostly talked about hell. Everything regarding creation and God was surrounded by mystery. I knew they just didn't know the answers I was looking for, for they were too scared to take a look at the unknown and find the answers for themselves.
Being a victim of bullying for a great part of my life, I amused myself with my imagination thinking about other worlds, other possibilities, and escaping to a different reality. My usual readings were comic books, UFO magazines, and books about ghosts, psychic powers, and other mysteries of the world. I have to confess that none of these reads directly influenced my interest in out of body experiences —they talked about aliens, clairvoyance, telekinesis, etc.— but the topic of astral travel was always missing.
My first interest on the subject came from my mother; she would tell me that when she was a little girl, she and her sister had a particularly unusual game: they would take turns to lock themselves in the bathroom, sit on the toilet seat and start repeating the phrase, "I am I, I am I, I am I..." over and over again. She didn't know how she learned about that particular phrase, but what would happen next would be more intriguing; she described it as leaving her body and floating around the house being unseen by other people doing their normal day to day activities and then coming back to her body.
Her younger sister also learned about this skill and would do exactly the same and get the same result. They were scared but thrilled about the out of body experience and would repeat it often. Until one day, they told my grandmother, and she told them that they shouldn't be playing with that since, according to her, it was dangerous, and so, they stopped doing it and eventually lost interest. They never tried it or could do it again, although my aunt confirmed her childhood experiences when asked. My mother later lost any interest in topics that had to do with mysticism or the unexplained; however, it was interesting that she always referred to this out of body experience as something that was not mere imagination from a child.
I tried to recreate this experience but never succeeded. I guess I also didn't put much effort into it, and since the topic was not discussed in any of my favorite reads, my interest soon faded too.
However, during this time, I learned a skill that later proved to be helpful in the dream world: the ability to escape from nightmares. Whenever I was having a nightmare, it usually consisted of a monster chasing me to rip me apart.
When the monster finally caught me, my heart was beating so fast that I would wake up drenched in sweat and feel scared for the rest of the day. As I became more focused on paying attention to my dreams, I learned that if I was having a nightmare, the best thing I could do was to wake myself up. When having nightmares, I started concentrating on opening my eyes. Of course, I could see in the nightmare but would make an extra effort to open my eyelids even more. This resulted in me actually opening my physical eyelids which would then wake me up. I would use this ability often, and when I reached high school, nightmares then consisted of failing exams or being trapped inside the classroom. Nevertheless, I would use the same technique to escape from these nightmares every time.
One day, I had the most unusual experience: I was having a nightmare and applied my usual nightmare-escaping technique, but when opening my eyes, I could see my room, yet I could not move my body. The more I struggled, the less I could move; I was completely paralyzed. This scared me to death. After what seemed like many minutes of struggle, I finally seemed to lose consciousness, go back to dreaming, and then I would wake up all of a sudden—finally able to move my body. At this point I didn't associate this episode with having an out of body experience, and I even thought for a while that what I experienced must have been a sort of demonic possession and remained quite frightened from the experience. This, however, would repeat every few months or so, never lasting that long again, but scaring me, nonetheless.
The events continued happening for several years until I reached college. One day, while studying in France as an exchange student, I was vacationing with my friends in the city of Avignon in the south of France. All four of us had to spend the night in a small room, two guys and two girls.
That night I had a nightmare: I was in a dark forest surrounded by evil gnomes with big sharp black nails keeping me tied up with a rope. Frightened, I decided to wake myself up as usual. Upon doing so, I could see the room but was once more paralyzed. I started to call out for my friends to help, hoping they would try to wake me up. They didn't wake me up, however, they were able to hear me mumbling and, upon waking up, one of them jokingly asked me if I had had an erotic dream. Feeling a bit ashamed, I decided to clarify the incident and told her about my experiences.
Surprisingly, upon hearing this, she told me she experienced the same thing when sleeping facing up, and so that was why she would always sleep on her side to avoid this, and that she believed this is what people referred to as "astral projection." This term made an immediate impact on me. I had always wanted to astral travel but never really found a book that elaborated on the subject. Was I finally experiencing what my mother and aunt did when they were kids? I was soon to find out.
I began doing research. Internet was not as developed back then in the early 2000s. There wasn’t much information about astral travel and OBEs (Out of Body Experiences) in Spanish, my native language, but I was able to find a website that had all the answers regarding astral travel.
Finding that website was a matter of chance. Not a lot of people were talking about the astral travel phenomenon back then. Especially, in Spanish. All of the information was written in English.
This website doesn’t exist anymore. It was just a random one and it had only one technique to achieve astral projection. It involved the use of a mantra or plural, mantras, from Sanskrit meaning ‘utterances.’ Mantras were words found in Vedic literature and other Hindu texts that were believed to have magical or spiritual powers.
It was important to know the correct pronunciation of the mantras to achieve results so I listened to audios in order to learn how to pronounce the first mantra: LA RA SS.
Once I learned it, I was so eager to put it to practice. So, on that same day, I got back home early. I was quite tired, which I thought was ideal. So, I went to bed and laid on my back pronouncing this mysterious mantra.
I pronounced LA RA SS and continued pronouncing it over and over until I started to feel sleepy. Then, I felt an electric sensation around my body. Something was definitely happening. Something I had never felt before. According to what I had just learned, I expected to just leave my physical body, but, perhaps due to my tiredness, I fell asleep. I blacked out. For how long? I can’t say, but then I started dreaming.
I remember the dream very well, although it wasn’t “lucid.” That is, I wasn’t conscious enough to realize I was dreaming. The dream was quite unusual: I was in a park or in a field, and I saw my brother as a kid. We were both kids in the dream, and I saw that he was playing with a mysterious wand that caught my attention. Upon getting closer, my brother handed over the wand. I think he said, “it’s for you.”
I grabbed the wand, and I started feeling some sort of vertigo and a vibration, as if I were going to be rocket-launched into the sky. Everything spiraled and, in an instant, I wasn’t dreaming anymore.
The next thing I knew was me floating in my bedroom close to the ceiling. I looked down and saw my physical body lying in bed sleeping, and I saw a silver cord coming from its abdomen and connecting to the invisible body I was hovering in.
I knew I had achieved astral projection. In my excitement, I headed towards the window and placed my hands on the cold window glass. My hands were invisible, but my intuition could “feel them.” And upon touching the glass I could feel the cold surface and hear the sounds coming from the street. In my excitement, knowing that I could fly from what I had learned previously, and “told” by my intuition that I wasn’t bound by the limitations of my physical body, I tried to go through the window, but instead, I met with a resistance and was instantly pulled back to my physical body. I woke up immediately, stood up, and felt very happy because I thought I had achieved something great.
It was the first time that something metaphysical, something that was not explained by the science, worked for me, and it did so on my first try.
From that moment on, I was able to astral project every night, although, never again through a dream like that, so mysterious, so symbolic: my little brother, the wand, the “power” that had been handed over to me. I believe it was an initiation, and my journey to another dimension, as I will elaborate further in this book, was just starting.
The sleep paralysis phenomenon, though not always experienced while astral traveling, did repeat and does repeat quite often, but it no longer bothered me. I discovered that the reason that sleep paralysis happens, as it was explained to me by my guides and through my own experience, is that consciousness is being transferred from the physical body to the astral body, one of different bodies of existence to explore reality that we possess, and which will be explained later.
Surprisingly, the transfer of one’s consciousness from the physical body to the astral body, what many refer to the astral projection or out of body experience, actually happens every single night we sleep. Yet, most people are not aware of it. Astral travel or astral projection simply means being conscious in the exact moment it happens.
There is a point where consciousness is temporarily trapped in between; no longer in the physical body, but not quite yet in control of the astral body either. This is when sleep paralysis happens.
Many people have experienced the sleep paralysis phenomenon. It seems to be quite frequent. Yet, people say they have rarely experienced astral travel.
If they knew that sleep paralysis is the final step towards achieving astral projection, and if they knew of the amazing experiences that could be had in the astral plane, they would surely inquire more about the subject, something this book will try to provide.
Sleep paralysis is no longer frightening to me. When it happens to me, I remain in that stage for a few seconds, mentally doing my astral projection mantras, then slowly try to move my astral body until I achieve complete detachment of my physical body in a matter of seconds.
As for the safety of astral travel, rest assure that people cannot die from astral traveling alone. This and other creepy inventions associated with this practice are the fabrication of minds that are looking to keep us bound to a materialistic lifestyle for their own profit and to keep us under their control. This site will demystify everything related to astral travel, also known as astral projection or out of body experiences. Through my research, I’ve learned that astral projection is a technique that allows individuals to experience out-of-body experiences and journey to different dimensions and levels of consciousness. Over time, by practicing meditation and other techniques, I was able to have multiple experiences with astral projection, which not only expanded my perspective on the universe but also helped me to gain self-awareness and personal growth. I now believe that astral projection is a powerful tool for spiritual exploration, personal development, and expanding our understanding of the world around us.
